Persley Castles Halloween Transformation
Persley Castle Care Home, part of the Renaissance Care group, became a haunted haven for its spook-tacular Halloween party. Residents and their families embraced the spirit of the season with an afternoon packed full of ghostly games, creepy costumes, and eerie entertainment.
The event featured a variety of traditional Halloween activities, including dunking for apples and a ‘catch the doughnut’ game. For those with a competitive spirit, there was also a Halloween quiz with spooky facts to test participants' knowledge.
Residents had the opportunity to show off their creative flair during the closing ceremony, which included awards for the best-dressed Halloween costumes. Alongside the activities, guests were treated to themed food and drinks, accompanied by a themed playlist that set the mood.
Abby Williams, Wellbeing Lead at Persley Castle, said: “Our Halloween party is always a highlight of the year for residents and their families. It was wonderful to see everyone come together, have fun, and enjoy some classic games that brought back fond memories.
“I’ve always loved Halloween, and it was such fun to see everyone get into the spooky spirit. My favourite part was dooking for apples, but I think we all secretly wanted to win the best-dressed award!”
Betty Martin, Resident
“We were delighted to see so many fantastic costumes, and most importantly, to have created a day filled with smiles and laughter.”
Residents were at the heart of the preparations, choosing games and helping with the decorations that turned Persley Castle into a haunted house for the day.
Resident Betty Martin, aged 88 said: “I’ve always loved Halloween, and it was such fun to see everyone get into the spooky spirit. My favourite part was dooking for apples, but I think we all secretly wanted to win the best-dressed award!”
The Halloween party at Persley Castle was one of many themed activities organised by Renaissance Care to promote well-being, social engagement, and a sense of community among residents, proving once again that age is no barrier to a bit of Halloween hocus pocus.
